Paou Village - South Pelion

Paou is a small coastal hamlet, located 5 km from Argalasti and 45 km from the city of Volos.

A short distance before you reach the lovely beach, you will come across the charming Byzantine monastery of Agios Nikolaos
that was built in 1778. The monastery is situated within olive groves and spring fountains.

The monastery was destroyed during the Turkish occupation in 1843, but was renovated in the later years.

It is worth visiting this monastery and admire the lovely Byzantine and Meta Byzantine ( Post-Byzantine ) decorations inside.

Walking down hill from the village you will meet the two small beaches known as Mikri ( Small ) and Megali ( Big ).

These beaches are perfect for tranquility, isolation and an enjoyable swim in the crystal clean waters.
